On Wednesday, January 31, 2018, the students at the Bronx Charter School for Better Learning 1 witnessed the induction of twenty-nine 3rd through 5th Grade boys into the Aim High Empowerment Institute. The boys, proudly dressed in bow ties and maroon blazers displaying the school’s logo, pledged to become a fellowship focused on competence, confidence and character. “We are a brotherhood, a family, and a group that should protect one another. We want to celebrate our victories together, and we want to fix our problems together.”
“We move forward together; no man left behind!” boasted Thierno (4th Grade), with his hand raised in pride. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the day was a fact delivered by Dorel (5th Grade). “What you are looking at today is a group of young men who are ready to take the AIM HIGH pledge. In fact, you are looking at the youngest group of men who have ever taken the AIM HIGH pledge.” The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning takes a lot of pride in being the first elementary school to be part of this life-changing program. The brothers, mentors and administrators of the program look forward to its continued success. The school anticipates positive results from the program and benefits for day-to-day classroom activities.
