Dr. Anissa Reilly
Dr. Anissa Reilly is the Principal of The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning 1. She is a dedicated educator and leadership strategist with more than three decades of experience serving students, families, and school communities. Her work reflects a deep belief in the power of every child to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the world.
Dr. Reilly leads with humility, clarity, and purpose. She is committed to the core values of The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning (BBL), where every learner is viewed as capable and where teaching is designed to support the development of student agency, curiosity, and independence. She works closely with teachers and staff to cultivate joyful learning environments that are calm, respectful, and intellectually rich.
Her leadership is rooted in the BBL mission to help students become confident learners who think with precision, communicate effectively, and collaborate with empathy. She partners with families as valued members of the learning community and believes that strong relationships and shared expectations form the foundation for student success.
Dr. Reilly earned her degrees from Morgan State University, Bank Street College, and The Sage Colleges of Albany. She is the CEO of Giant Step 6 LLC, an author, Emotional Intelligence trainer, and certified John Maxwell leadership coach and DISC consultant. She is also a wife, the mother of four, and the grandmother of eight. Above all, she is a servant leader dedicated to uplifting others and ensuring that students experience both academic success and personal growth.
